Route Two
Complete Mobile Setup: approximately £1,500–£2,000
Approx. £1,500–£2,000 example setup budget, excluding variable costs such as insurance: a low-cost van, essential equipment, storage and light branding.
1. Choose a sensible used van
Around £1,000 buys a workable small van. Check MOT history, service record, rust, clutch, cambelt and tyres. Take someone experienced with you if you can.
2. Get insurance quotes before you buy
Insurance can cost more than the van at a young age. Quote three vehicles before committing, and make sure the cover matches business use.
3. Spend around £500 on essential equipment
The same essential kit as the Lean Starter route. Resist buying a water tank, generator or extractor before you have paying customers.
4. Organise storage simply
Cheap shelving, secured crates and separate interior and exterior kits. Avoid expensive van conversions at the beginning.
5. Add light branding
Magnetic door signs or simple decals with your service and phone number. A clean, tidy van is better advertising than an expensive wrap.
6. Follow the professional launch plan
Module 20 gives a four-week plan: equip, practise, price and launch, ending with your first paid jobs and reviews.
