Both routes

Route One

Lean Starter: begin with approximately £350–£500

The lowest-risk way to find out whether this business suits you, using transport you already own.

1. Use the transport you already have
A hatchback, estate or small van is enough if your kit is organised into interior and exterior boxes. Keep your service radius tight so travel does not eat your working day.
2. Buy only the essentials
Wet-and-dry vacuum, pressure washer, extension lead, hose, two buckets with grit guards, mitts, drying towels, microfibres, brushes, spray bottles and a starter chemical set. That is a working business for around £400.
3. Use customer utilities
Ask politely about an outside tap and socket when the customer books. It is completely normal for a mobile valeter and it keeps your startup cost low while you learn.
4. Keep the service menu simple
Maintenance Valet, Full Valet and Deep Clean. Three prices, clear inclusions, no confusion.
5. Market locally and reinvest
Practice vehicles, before-and-after photographs, community groups, a Google Business Profile and referrals. Put early profits into the upgrades that save you the most time.
